Dear Patients,

We hope that this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months. Many things have changed with COVID-19, what remains the same is our commitment to your safety. As we open our office for regular visits and your oral health needs, we want to make you aware of changes that have been implemented. These protocols are necessary to assure your health, the health of our providers and our staff.

The following agencies have provided the information for how best to health screen, provide personal protection, enhance infection control and follow social distancing in our office: American Dental Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), California Dental Association (CDA )and Alameda County Department of Public Health.

Office Appointment and Arrival
You will be asked a series of health questions at the time you schedule your appointment. The day of the appointment, we ask that you stay in your car after parking. We will send you a text so you can check into your appointment from your car. We will text you again when you may enter the office. Please wear your face covering to enter. The same health questions will be asked again and your temperature will be taken. Please do not have others come with you into the reception area. If someone needs to come in with you, only 1 person and they must have a face covering. Handsanitizer is available throughout our office, but you will be asked to wash your hands in the procedure room before you sit down.

Your Appointment
Appointments will be managed to allow for physical distancing between patients and also with staff. This might mean that there are fewer appointment times to offer. Also, our staff cannot occupy our space the same way as before, so please be flexible about who might be working with you. We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you.

Completion
At the conclusion of your visit, feel free to rinse at the sink or wash your hands. Please put your face covering back on and a staff member will escort you to the front desk so that we can control cross traffic in the hallway. We would also like you to know that our staff will have health screenings and temperatures taken daily to assure that they are also healthy. Please know that if you are feeling ill, we want you to reschedule your appointment as soon as you can. Likewise, we will have to reschedule your appointment if we have a staff member who cannot come in to work because they are feeling ill.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about steps we take to keep every patient safe in our practice.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming you back.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sommer and Team
